Odor counteractants are similar to deodorants in that they make areas that smell bad smell better, but they do it in different ways. Deodorants are usually highly concentrated fragrances that cover up bad smells. Odor counteractants, however, react chemically with the molecules in the air that cause the bad odors and neutralize them.

Generally, odor counteractants, like Odor Out (DEO1) act faster, last longer and are more economical over time than plain deodorants.
