Farmers cluck about feed, fuel prices
Mississippi's poultry industry withstood high feed
and fuel costs last year to remain the state's largest
agricultural product.
The state's poultry production is estimated to be
worth $2.3 billion for 2007, up from $2 billion in
2006.
The Mississippi Poultry Association, founded in 1937, represents the poultry industry in the state. The Association membership is comprised of poultry and egg companies, producers from these companies, and many of the businesses that help support the industry. The Association is proud of its role in making poultry the state’s number one agricultural commodity in terms of value. Our industry also boasts a number four ranking nationally in broilers produced with several leading world known companies as members. The three main objectives of the Mississippi Poultry Association are governmental affairs on the state and federal level, member education and generic product promotion.
We are excited to make this new source of information available to our members and others interested in Mississippi’s leading agricultural industry.
Our Web site will be another means we can use to communicate and inform—two key objectives of our association. This new forum will literally put our association at the fingertips of people all over the world.
Our goal for this site is to create a source of up-to-date information that is relevant and timely. We hope you will find our Web site informative and easy to use. We welcome your suggestions for improvement.
